Salvation: A Gift, Not a Reward
Salvation is not earned through good deeds or religious performance—it's a gift of grace received by faith in Jesus Christ.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." — Ephesians 2:8–9
God promised salvation even in the Old Testament:
"Look to Me, and be saved, all you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other." — Isaiah 45:22
Step 1: Believe in Jesus Christ
Believe that Jesus is the Son of God who died for your sins and rose again.
"Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved—you and your household." — Acts 16:31
Belief isn't just head knowledge—it's trust and surrender.
Step 2: Repent from Sin
Repentance is turning away from sin and turning to God. It is a change of heart and direction.
"Repent and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out." — Acts 3:19
"Let the wicked forsake his way… Let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him." — Isaiah 55:7
- Conviction of sin (John 16:8)
- Confession (1 John 1:9)
- Forsaking sin (Proverbs 28:13)
- Walking in obedience (James 1:22)
Step 3: Be Baptized
Baptism is an act of obedience and a public declaration of your faith.
"Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." — Acts 2:38
"He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned." — Mark 16:16
Step 4: Receive the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit empowers you to live a new life. He teaches, convicts, comforts, and guides you.
"I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes." — Ezekiel 36:27
"When He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth." — John 16:13
Step 5: Walk with Christ Daily
Salvation is the beginning of a new life. Following Jesus means taking up your cross every day.
"If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me." — Luke 9:23
Daily Habits for New Believers:
- Prayer: Speak and listen to God (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
- Bible Study: Feed your soul (Psalm 119:105)
- Fellowship: Stay connected to other believers (Hebrews 10:25)
- Obedience: Live out God's commands (John 14:15)
- Evangelism: Share your faith (Mark 16:15)
